With a Bachelor in Civil Engineering (Construction Management), Certificate IV in Project Management and more than a decade of professional experience, George Mourad is a highly-skilled pre-construction project manager.
Joining Mono in 2016, George led teams in the residential market, while constantly working to improve efficiencies across the construction phase.
Promoted to Pre-Construction Manager in 2024, George now plans, directs and oversees Mono’s Pre-Construction projects from bid management and estimating, to design and development.
Building homes, not just houses
Working closely with the pre-construction and construction teams, George ensures regulatory requirements are met, potential risks are mitigated and client expectations are fully understood and satisfied, laying a solid foundation for a success construction phase.
“Risk management and stakeholder satisfaction are two areas where I really thrive,” says George.
“When I’m working towards stakeholder satisfaction, I’m not just thinking about the client, but the end-user – the people who live in our homes.”
George is passionate about creating safe, inspiring and welcoming homes, and it is this passion that drives his work.
“Ultimately, my measure of success is whether the final product is enjoyed by the people who live there. Everyone’s home is their sanctuary, so I get great satisfaction contributing to the creation of homes,” he says.
“I love being a part of all aspects of this process, whether that’s social housing projects for those who are most vulnerable in our communities, or luxury apartments.”
Outcome focused
George undertakes a systematic approach to his role, at every stage of the project lifecycle.
“My approach and skills are founded on best practice,” says George.
“I am always working to ensure that we are following the right processes and procedures and complying with our legal and ethical obligations.”
George has an extensive background in project management for gas networks and infrastructure projects. It is this knowledge that strengthens his residential expertise.
“My technical knowledge of construction is where I have grown the most at Mono, particularly in regard to residential construction. It’s an area that continues to see a lot of growth.”
A drive for growth
“It was Mono’s culture and values that were the biggest drawcard for me in joining the company,” George says.
“Over time, this has been reaffirmed time and again.”
While the sense of community and continual team support have been so important to George, it is the company’s commitment to constant improvement that takes on a more personal meaning.
“I’m really into personal and professional development, so I’m always interested in learning ways of improving myself to help in both my career and my personal life,” George says.
